This is not a poem, but i couldn't resist participating in Ms Red Pen's 5 Word Challenge.
sookie's entry for 5 Word Challenge:
As i mingled with the party guests the crowded room felt like a barren wasteland. Some confuse polite small-talk with deep interest. Just when i thought 'i don't have the energyto listen one more insipid word' you walked over. A distinct and welcome connection had begun.
A Prayer in Spring By Robert FrostOh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;And give us not to think so far awayAs the uncertain harvest; keep us hereAll simply in the springing of the year.Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night; And make us happy in the happy bees,The swarm dilating round the perfect trees. And make us happy in the darting birdThat suddenly above the bees is heard,The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,And off a blossom in mid air stands still. For this is love and nothing else is love,The which it is reserved for God aboveTo sanctify to what far ends He will,But which it only needs that we fulfil.
