Ms Red Pen's 5 Word Challenge

This is not a poem, but i couldn't resist participating in Ms Red Pen's 5 Word Challenge.

sookie's entry for 5 Word Challenge:

As i mingled with the party guests

the crowded room felt like a barren wasteland.
Some confuse polite small-talk with deep interest.
Just when i thought 'i don't have the energy
to listen one more insipid word' you walked over.
A distinct and welcome connection had begun.

Praise For Spring

LordV_at_Flickr_Chrysanthemum_flower_dewdrop_refraction

A Prayer in Spring
By Robert Frost

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfil.

Prayer Honoring the Goddesses of Spring

By Patti Wigington

Hail, and welcome!
Green life returns to the earth
blooming and blossoming
once more from the soil.
We welcome you,
goddesses of spring,
Eostre, Persephone, Flora, Cybele,
in the trees,
in the soil,
in the flowers,
in the rains,
and we are grateful
for your presence.
